Branded PPE puts your company identity on work clothing and gear, so teams are easy to recognise on site. Branding covers embroidery, screen print, heat transfer and reflective tape. PPESuppliers.co.za is a free quote-request service for South Africa. Tell us what you want branded, and we pass your request to independent branding shops and suppliers who quote you directly. We do not do the branding ourselves and we never give prices. There is no charge and no obligation to accept a quote.

Branding methods

Each method suits different garments and budgets.

  • Embroidery: stitched logos that last, ideal for shirts, jackets and overalls.
  • Screen print: ink pressed through a screen, good for large runs of vests and T-shirts.
  • Heat transfer: a logo applied by heat, useful for small runs and fine detail.
  • Reflective tape: silver or coloured bands sewn on for night visibility.

A branding shop can advise which method suits the fabric and the number of washes the garment must survive.

Fine detail and small lettering often suit embroidery or transfers, while bold shapes suit screen print on flat fabric.

Branding and compliance

Branding must not defeat the protective function. On hi-vis clothing, logos should not cover the fluorescent background or the reflective tape more than the standard allows, such as SANS 1137 or EN ISO 20471. On flame-resistant clothing, use threads, labels and tape that are also flame resistant, or the garment can lose its rating.

Ask the supplier to confirm that the branding method suits the garment's certification. Helmets and boots may be marked only in ways that do not harm them, so check before you apply decals or stickers.

Keep a signed-off sample of each branded garment so later orders match the approved placement and colour.

Artwork and proofs

Good branding starts with good artwork. Supply your logo as a vector file if you can, such as an AI, EPS or PDF. Low-resolution images may need to be redrawn for embroidery, which is called digitising. A shop will often charge a setup fee for this.

  • Ask for a proof or a sample before the full run.
  • Confirm thread or ink colours against your brand colours.
  • Agree logo size and position on each garment.
  • Check wash instructions for the finished item.

What affects the quote

We do not give prices. Branding cost depends on the method, the number of positions, the stitch count or print size, the number of colours, the quantity and whether artwork needs setup. Tell suppliers the garment, quantity, logo positions and your artwork file. Say if you need names or numbers on each garment. Mention whether the shop supplies the garments or you provide them, and give the delivery address and deadline. A branding shop can then quote the complete job in one figure, and say what lead time to expect. Allow time for a proof to be approved before production begins.

Comparing quotes for branded PPE

The lowest price per item is not always the best deal. When your quotes arrive, check:

  • Scope: exactly what is included, from artwork and set-up to packing and delivery.
  • Turnaround: how long the job takes from approval, and whether it can be phased for urgent items.
  • Samples and approval: whether you get a sample or proof before the full run.
  • Terms: payment terms, minimum quantities, price validity and what happens if items are wrong.

What to include in your request

  • Name the garments and the quantity to be branded.
  • Attach your logo as a vector file if you can.
  • State logo positions, sizes and thread or ink colours.
  • Say if garments must stay hi-vis or flame resistant.
  • Add the delivery address and your deadline.

Frequently asked questions

Do you do embroidery and branding?
No. PPESuppliers.co.za is a free quote-request service. We pass your request to independent branding shops, manufacturers and suppliers across South Africa, and they quote you directly. There is no fee and no obligation to accept any quote.
Can I brand hi-vis and flame-resistant clothing?
Yes, with care. Branding must not cover the fluorescent area or reflective tape beyond what the standard allows, and flame-resistant garments need threads and labels that suit the fabric. Tell the supplier the garment's rating so they choose the method.
What artwork file do branding shops need?
A vector file such as AI, EPS or a vector PDF works best. A clear high-resolution image can also be used, but it may need redrawing. Supply your brand colours, and ask the shop for a proof before they start the full run.
Is there a minimum order for branded PPE?
Often yes, though it varies by shop and method. Screen print usually suits larger runs, while embroidery and heat transfer handle smaller numbers. State your quantity and branding method in the request and each shop will say what it can do.
